Yachts or aircraft are equipped with a light, portable
ruggedised tablet PC with Safe Triage System software,
plus all wireless enabled equipment for capturing vital
signs. The receiving medical centres have an easy access
web based portal to receive patient data.
The system has the ability to capture and transmit all
vital signs via wireless peripherals to aid intelligent
diagnosis including (but not limited to): 12 Channel ECG,
Blood Oxygen Saturation, Respiration Rate, Blood
Pressure, Peak Flow and Blood Glucose Levels.

Ease of use is critical and the system has been specifically
designed for non-medically trained personnel. The device
will guide the responder through a simple step-by-step
process that will support diagnosis, and provide
treatment instructions and advice, including easy and
quick instructions on how to apply the key monitoring
peripherals provided as part of the solution.

Should a medical incident arise a crew member would
power on the Safe Triage unit and simply follow the onscreen
instructions. The system can be pre-configured with
crew and passenger details, along with any pre-existing
patient conditions which might be important to be aware
of, so as to speed up medical interventions.

The touch screen interface, with handwriting recognition
including short cuts, enables medical incidents and vital
signs to be captured and transmitted &#8216;real-time' via
satellite in a secure, encrypted format to a 24/7 medical
centre.
The designated emergency department or trauma centre
receives full patient details, including the vital signs and
digital images. Specialist clinicians can then advise on
interventions whilst receiving real time information on
the patient's status, location and destination.

The system provides a wide range of data for clinical
decision support at the scene, including a comprehensive
medical reference database. A comprehensive drugs
database provides guidance on the type of drug, method
of administration, dosage, units, interactions, contraindications
and warnings.]]></description>

                    <description><![CDATA[Sydney Yachts has commissioned Ker Design to create a new series of performance orientated yachts. The new GTS37 is the first model to be released, with an exciting new range to be announced in the coming months. Jason Ker has designed the GTS37 with the performance orientated sailor in mind.

Design
The new Sydney GTS37 is fast, safe and comes equipped with a fully fitted interior. Engineered to ISO standards, Category A. The design features a large open cockpit with twin helm positions. The interior is comfortable and practical with 3 double cabins, a fully enclosed head and a well appointed galley and navigation area. There is ample storage space for cruising and the practical interior is perfect for racing, both round the buoys or offshore. A refined double spreader rig with non-overlapping headsails ensures the GTS37 is easy to handle. It is responsive and a pleasure to sail. This easy to sail format translates to less crew during racing and effortless cruising when short-handed. 

Research and Development 
Using the extensive Americas Cup technology at its disposal Ker Design continues to develop an improved understanding of the science of yacht performance.  The hull shape used for the Sydney GTS37 is the product of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) research. A significant number of design options were analysed leading to some surprising and highly exciting conclusions. The final shape selected for the new Sydney GTS37 has shown to be very efficient.

                    <description><![CDATA[Based on well-proven in-house technology, Aalborg Industries introduced in 2009 the new business area &#8220;Exhaust Gas Cleaning&#8221; launching new and cost-saving sulphur emission abatement technologies to clean exhaust gas from ship engines as an alternative to lowering the fuel sulphur content.

New international requirements
From 01 January 2010, ships berthing within the EU are required to use fuel with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1%. 

For ships delivered after 2016, the NOx emission must be reduced with 80% in sensitive areas (Emission Control Areas) &#8211; at present the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel, but from 2010 this also involves the coasts of North America &#8211; and the sulphur content in fuel oil must be reduced to 0.5% globally in 2020 and to 0.1% in 2015 in sensitive areas (ECA).

To comply with these new international requirements, shipowners must switch to fuel with low or no sulphur content or instigate cleaning of the ship's exhaust gases. 

Main product and competences
With Aalborg Industries' exhaust gas scrubber it is possible to clean the exhaust gas from the ship's main and aux. engines by washing the exhaust gas with seawater or freshwater added caustic soda.

Cleaning of ships' exhaust gases is a vital and cost-saving alternative and a supplement to using fuel with low or no sulphur content. Apart from cleaning SOx emissions, the exhaust gas scrubbers have also proved to be more effective in removing harmful particles from exhaust gases of diesel engines when compared to switching solely to low sulphur fuels.

Using water, scrubbers can be used for washing the exhaust gas from the main engine of the ship and can in principle be compared to a large shower cabinet placed in the funnel of a ship. The major environmental benefit from the scrubbing system is the fact that both seawater and freshwater added caustic soda can be used for the scrubbing. This makes the scrubbing process more environmentally safe than using chemicals to clean the exhaust gas of emissions.

Building on Experience
Aalborg Industries has supplied scrubbers for tankers for several years producing inactive flue gas to direct into the oil tanks preventing explosion. This way, flue gas from boilers is sent through a scrubber where it is cooled down and cleaned before directed into the oil tanks. This means that exhaust gas cleaning in scrubbers is a well-known technology and one of our core competences. Our qualifications are also high when it comes to adapting products to operation after diesel engines, since we are market leading within delivery of exhaust gas-fired boilers placed in the funnel of a ship. Therefore, it was very natural to initiate development of scrubbers for diesel engines.]]></description>

                    <description><![CDATA[The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) initiation to renew its VTS system developed into mutually beneficial agreement with Transas to facilitate the supply, development and commissioning of a VTS system including all necessary hardware, software, sensors, communication systems, training and support.

The GPA VTS system allow operators to visualise and interact with all marine traffic within the Area of Responsibility by bringing together subsystems including Radar, Automatic Identification System (AIS), Electro Optical (or CCTV), VHF Communications (including Radio Direction Finding and Digital Selective Calling), Hydro Meteorological Data, Port Information System (a database including Vessels, Visits, Operations, Weather Log and Electronic Logbook) and Track/Audio Recording and Playback.

All of these services are fully integrated through a set of VTS system servers and presented to the operators in a new state©\of©\the©\art dual workplace control room located within the GPA office situated on the North Mole in the port of Gibraltar.  

The VTS system selected by the GPA is based upon Transas Navi-Harbour VTMIS solution ¨C one of the most popular VTMIS systems on the market, which is already in demand, among others, by Cyprus Ministry of Merchant Marine, Armed Forces of Malta as well as Kenya Ports Authority.

More than 150 other successful shore-based installations have been completed by Transas over the last 15 years. Transas is trusted as an experienced and reliable partner with a proven track record in delivering monitoring, surveillance and vessel traffic management systems in time, within budget and to the highest standard.

The Port of Gibraltar occupies a uniquely important strategic location at the intersection of Atlantic and Mediterranean shipping lanes ¨C one of the world's busiest shipping routes (some 110,000 ships transit the Gibraltar Strait each year). This cat is a wise compromise it is the perfect union between practicality and fun;
The twin hulls are made from layered fibreglass and special 

fibres sandwiched for increased structural strength.
The aluminum mast is completely water tight allowing the boat to be easily righted from a capsize, albeit overall the Phantom series are particularly stable catamarans. A winged profile two piece mast is available upon request which allows you to transport it on the car roof top without compromising overall safety. All metallic components are anodized for durability and long term usage.  High Quality sailing hardware and fittings are mounted; ball bearing  blocks and mainsail traveller car are utilized.

Automatic rudders and centreboards (with the exception for the Phantom Club Class) are standard items and provide the sailor with added  pleasure when sailing these robust multi hulls. Launching is fast and simple, the cross bars can be fitted in a few seconds and inserted into the appropriate hull lodging without the need for special tools. The mast / spar, thanks to its particular  swivel foot design that adheres perfectly to  the ball and socket joint, can be easily mounted or taken down by two people. All other mounting procedures are extremely easy and rapid so as to get quickly down to sailing; that marvellous sensation of gliding on the water with your Phantom.]]></description>
